#1843: 8 Reales 1676, Nuevo Reino. 24.952 grams / gramos.

Obverse: quartered shield with arms of Castile and Leon in correct order.  Pomegranate at bottom of shield.  Value VIII reading upward to left of the shield. Reverse: Pillars with waves.  Assayer OLMs. R/L M62-10 and L/R M62S-10, C&T Type 75, number 348.

Rare and interesting coin on an unusually large planchet.  Obviously sea salvaged but at 25 grams the coin has not corroded much, looks like abrasion on the surfaces.
